Brexit Unmasked: The memoirs and opinions of a nonagenarian Europhile
13/07/2023 @ 19:30 - 20:30 BST
In 1956, Albert Kemp was a junior civil servant, taking advantage of a subsidised French language course in Strasbourg. There he heard about plans for the new European Economic Community, due to come into being the following year. He was so enthused and excited at the thought that, when he returned home to Britain, he tried to gather interest – but the only thing on people’s minds was the unfolding crisis in Suez. Albert might be Dorset for Europe’s oldest and most long-service Europhile! Talking to him is like living through history and he has a lively writing style. We are joining with Devon for Europe to offer the opportunity to hear about his book and listen to his experiences.
