This event, led by Edoardo Celeste and hosted by the Dublin City University Law Research Centre, the Brexit Institute and the DCU Law & Technology Research Cluster will focus on data protection, law enforcement and intelligence sharing. Personal data processing practices by national law enforcement and intelligence authorities have been subject to intense criticism over the past few decades. Seminal data protection cases decided by the Court of Justice of the EU and by the European Court of Human Rights involved British and Irish national authorities and oversight mechanisms. The question of the protection of personal data by law enforcement and intelligence authorities in the UK and RoI is still not solved as shown by a series of pending cases before the Court of Justice and the European Court of Human Rights.
