The next webinar in the London4Europe series takes place on Thursday 17 June at 6.30pm. Tom Kiehl, specialist in music and creative industries policy and strategy, Sarah Williams, Vice Chair of the Musicians’ Union, and Howard Goodall, one of Britain’s best-known composers of choral music, stage musicals, TV and film scores, will discuss the impact of the Withdrawal Agreement on musicians, the arts and other creative industries .
The UK’s creative industries contribute in total £101.5 billion a year to the UK economy (equivalent to the construction or banking industries). Of that, the music industry contributes some £4.5 billion a year and is globally dominant. Yet, following the end of the transition period with the EU, UK musicians can no longer travel and work freely in EU countries, and many have effectively lost their way of life and living. Is this really a “teething problem” or does it constitute a much longer-term issue?
