DESCRIPTION:Repairing and Reforming Broken Britain\nIn September 2018 Leeds for Europe organised the ground-breaking Great Northern Stop Brexit Conference.  A packed audience were treated to a unique day of high-quality debate as we sought to “Create A Vision of a New Britain without Brexit”. \nOne year on\, with our nation still trapped in the purgatory of a shambolic Brexit process\, we have decided to repeat and update the conference with a brand new programme and a new line-up of superb speakers. \nWe in Leeds for Europe still believe that we need to offer the people of Britain an optimistic vision of how good our future could be\, if we stay inside the European Union. \nThis year’s programme will look at ways to avoid the threats of “big data” and the rise of populism across the western world\, how to close the generation gap\, making Britain’s institutions fit for the 21st century\, tackling the climate crisis and learning how to talk to Leavers.  We will finish on an optimistic note\, asking the question “How good could Britain be without Brexit?”. \nJoin us again for this one-day conference\, as we debate ways to repair and reform broken Britain. \nSpeakers confirmed so far are:- \nWill Hutton\, journalist\, The Observer\nGavin Esler\, former presenter\, Newsnight\nAlex Sobel MP (Leeds North West\, Labour)\nNatalie Bennett\, former Leader of the Green Party\nProfessor AC Grayling\, Philosopher & Author\nRichard Corbett MEP (Yorkshire & The Humber\, Labour)\nShaffaq Mohammed MEP (Yorkshire & The Humber\, LibDem)\nKamran Hussain\, LibDem PPC for Leeds North West constituency\nDiana Wallis\, Change UK\nWill Dry\, Our Future\, Our Choice\nMadeleina Kay\, Campaigner\, Young European of the Year 2018\nDr Mike Galsworthy\, Founder\, Scientists for EU\nPranay Manocha\, Chief Technical Officer\, Best for Britain\nDaniel Paterson\, Best for Britain \nThere’ll be a post-conference social nearby.

DESCRIPTION:Join us at 2.00pm on Saturday 7th September in Parliament Square to Defend our Democracy and to demand our MPs Reject Brexit. \nOur unelected Prime Minister has shown he is willing to ride roughshod over our democracy to get his way\, including potentially breaking the law. \nWe will not be protesting alone. On the same day\, many local pro-European groups will be organising demonstrations to Defend our Democracy and to Reject Brexit right across the UK.

DESCRIPTION:Thousands will take to the streets demanding Boris Johnson’s resignation.\nBy suspending parliament\, Johnson has shown his contempt for democracy. His Brexit agenda is a threat to jobs\, workers’ rights\, migrants and the NHS. We all have a duty to fight back. \nSo cancel all your plans and come to this. We will be joined by a range of exciting grassroots and big name speakers including Owen Jones\, Siân Berry from the Green Party\, Laura Parker from Momentum and Diane Abbott MP. \nBring family and friends\, placards and noise to Downing Street from 2:30 pm. \nWe are leafleting around London all day today.
