SUMMARY:The State of EU-UK Diplomatic Relations
DESCRIPTION:In this session\, chaired by Hilary Benn MP\, the UK Trade and Business Commission will ask witnesses about the UK-EU relationship\, and the performance of UK ministers\, negotiators\, and diplomats since 2016. There will be a particular focus on whether the approaches adopted have delivered the best results for businesses and individuals\, what could have been done differently\, and the lessons we should take into current and future negotiations. DESCRIPTION:Discussion with keynote speaker Viviane Reding\, former Vice President of the European Commission in charge of Justice\, Fundamental Rights and Citizenship. In light of the recent European Commission adequacy decisions on UK law and their attempt to alter policy on cookies\, we are extremely fortunate to be able to feature former Commissioner Reding\, who was the champion of the EU data protection law: the General Data Protection Regulation. This means the UK Parliament does not reflect the voters\, the votes of millions of people do not count\, and the country is stuck with confrontational politics not fit to respond to the challenges of the 21st Century.
